I’ve been a host for Pampered Chef seven or eight times. I adore their products and slowly but surely, am converting my entire kitchen to their products because of the quality and because I want to support the direct sales industry. Surely, I could just purchase their products without constantly hosting parties, right? WRONG! I choose to host parties for Pampered Chef, and particularly for/with my extremely skilled Pampered Chef consultant friend because of the interaction and social atmosphere of a good PC show.
At their shows, all guests participate. It’s a given. If you show up, you’re going to be put to work. You can’t be shy. My friends and I love this. We get to laugh at (um I mean with) each other as we make mistakes, and we get to learn the recipes as we create them.
Here’s the best part of the Pampered Chef parties I’ve hosted, and I don’t know whether all Pampered Chef consultants do this. TICKETS! We ask a great question, we get a ticket. We participate by chopping something or mixing something, we get a ticket. We explain why a product works the way it does, we get a ticket. Tickets are drawn for prizes at the end and we all look forward to getting prizes.
In my primary direct sales business, I’m not often doing classes/shows/parties as much these days as I used to, because of the intense schedule of my special needs kiddos. Most often, I’m selling via phone and internet, and doing one on one skin care pampering sessions which are most likely to be scheduled during the times that my children are in school. When I do go back to doing classes/shows/parties, you’d better believe I’ll be taking this ticket idea and introducing it into my business!
Here’s another way you can take a roll of tickets and utilize it for your direct sales business: meetings! Guests each get a ticket just for showing up. Consultants get tickets for the number of guests they’ve brought. Guests get tickets for asking great questions about the product or opportunity. Consultants get tickets for participation— leading part of the training, leading the presentation, having a great sales week. Draw for a prize for a guest and a prize for a consultant!
In what other ways can you use tickets as an out of the box way to make your shows and meetings more enjoyable?
